A Salina man has been arrested on a charge of burglary for allegedly taking items from a house damaged by fire on May 4th.

Witnesses said they watched 38-year-old Joseph Smith take lawn art and metal from the garage at 1001 N. 11th the home of Mark Happner on Tuesday morning between 7-7:30am .

The value of the items taken is estimated at $300.

Happner has been staying at a north Salina motel since the fire damaged his home late in the afternoon on Sunday May 4th.

The items that were taken have been recovered.
