A Salina man while being booked into the Saline County Jail for an outstanding municipal court warrant Tuesday, will face additional charges after a stolen check was found in his possession.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney said 22-year-old Ike Coffman will face requested charges of theft and forgery for stealing a check from his older brother early Tuesday morning.

Coffman allegedly took a check from the checkbook of 25-year-old Matthew Coffman between 6-6:30am Tuesday morning from a home where they both live in the 1100 block of E. Woodland.

Ike Coffman made out the check for $75 dollars to another person, but was arrested on the warrant charge before being able to cash it.

The check was among his possessions being checked when booked into jail. Police contacted Matthew Coffman who said he did not write the check, and it had been taken from the middle of the check book.
