The 45-year-old man involved in a shooting with Salina Police Wednesday afternoon has been booked into the Saline County Jail on 3 counts of attempted 1st degree murder.

According to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office web site, Jose Carrillo was booked into the jail at 11:30 Thursday morning.

Shots were fired by Carrillo and police Wednesday afternoon about 2:20 pm, after Carrillo while walking down the street began firing a rifle toward officers who were talking to a woman in Centennial Park about a domestic disturbance.

The 55-year-old woman said Carrillo was drunk and pointed the rifle at her inside a house down the street from the park.

None of the officers or the woman were injured in the shooting.

The Detective who shot Carrillo has been placed on administrative leave while the Kansas Bureau of Investigation conducts an investigation into the incident.
