A man with outstanding warrants, breaks the thumb of a Salina Police officer while trying to run from officers late Thursday night.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said officer were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of S. 11th on the report of a suspicious person about 11:45pm.

Officers found 25-year-old Ryan Kent and after learning that Kent had outstanding warrants, officers tried to arrest him, but he began to run north in the dark and collided with officer Andrew Meek who was talking to a witness.

During a scuffle Meek’s left thumb was broken. and officer Rachel Larson received an abrasion on a knee.

Outstanding warrants, Kent will face requested charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, battery of a law enforcement officer and damage to property.
