In a busy weekend that serves as the finale for the 2013-2014 high school sports season, there are a couple of area teams making bids for a state title in baseball.

In Class 6A, two rivals will square off in the first round as #1 seed Manhattan (20-2) plays #8 Junction City (9-13). The game is set for a 4:00 pm start at Hoglund Stadium in Lawrence. The winner will play on Friday at 1:30 pm.

In 4A Division II, the Russell Broncos qualified for state with a 14-8 record. The #6 seeded Broncos will face #3 Wichita-Trinity (18-4) at 6:30 pm in Pratt.

At Falley Field in Topeka, the Marion Warriors are the #2 seed with a 22-1 record. The Warriors will play #7 Silver Lake (14-7) at 4:00 pm. Both teams participated in the 3A tournament last season.
