UPDATE: Ottawa County Emergency Management Coordinator Marie Ballou said there was minor roof and gutter damage caused by the storm. The tornado sirens were sounded in Bennington after law enforcement spotted the weak tornadoes or Gustnadoes near Bennington.

The pictures to the right were taken by Esperanaza Holland about 7:40pm Sunday evening just a few miles east of Bennington near 220th Road and K-18.

A line of thunderstorms that brought heavy rains and gusty winds to central Kansas Sunday evening, also brought a couple of brief tornado touchdowns to Ottawa County.

According to the National Weather Service in Topeka, One tornado touched down a mile north of Bennington at 180th and Frontier Road.

The other brief tornado was 4 miles southwest of Bennington, where a couple of entire cottonwood trees were down across 170th Road and K-18 highway.

The twisters were reported at 7:38pm by Ottawa County law enforcement.
