Back in April, APAC Shears completed the 2013 phase of the
annual hike and bike trails improvements program.

The 2013 phase consisted of constructing more than 1.4 miles of trail with all-weather surfacing. This trail begins at the flood control levee at Schilling Road, then runs for 2,300 feet to the south and then parallel to
the drainage ditch adjacent to Schilling Road to the intersection of Schilling Road and Ohio Street.

The City of Salina’s plan, reflecting past practice and current public sentiment, is to have neighborhood parks and larger community parks be connected by trails. These trails encourage physical fitness and provide recreational activities such as walking, jogging, and bicycling.
The total project cost for 2013 was $60,084.91.
