HAYS–“It’s been a great ride but it’s time to hand over the reins to another person who loves Hays and our surrounding communities as much as I do,” Lowen said in a news release Tuesday.

“Our organization, thanks to wonderful donors and diligent oversight, has grown into a viable, important entity that has done and will do great things for Ellis, Trego and Rooks counties.”

The HCF board of directors is in the process of securing Lowen’s successor. “It’s sad to see Bob leave,” said board chairman Mike Koerner. “His knowledge and energy for the foundation will be missed.”

Lowen said community foundations fill a void that, because of their designated missions, no other local foundation can fulfill. “Community foundations across the state of Kansas and nationwide have partnered with donors and charities for many years to make our communities better places in which to live, work and raise families,” Lowen said.

Heartland Community Foundation is a not-for-profit, public organization and is one of 13 affiliates of the Greater Salina Community Foundation.
