A man looking for the Smoky Hill River Festival Medallion Tuesday evening, finds a pipe bomb in a church parking lot.

Salina Police Captain Chris Trocheck said officers were dispatched to The Seventh-day Adventist Church at 834 N 11th, just after 6pm on report of pipe bomb found in a cup.

The pipe bomb was in an oatmeal container, and it appeared that someone had tried to light the fuse of the bomb.

Police blocked off the area of the parking lot, and the Riley County Bomb Squad was called to remove it from the parking lot.

The bomb was taken to the police shooting range west of Salina to detonate.

Trocheck said there is no connection to the pipe bomb found Tuesday with the pipe bomb explosion in Jerry Ivey parked that killed a 46-year-old man on May 19th.
