June 5, 2014, Topeka, KS — The Kansas Volleyball Association is pleased to announce the 2014 All Star squads. The annual All Star match will be held this year on June 7th, 2014, at Lee Arena on the Washburn University campus. Match time will be 6:30 pm. The players selected are first nominated by their high school coaches (who must be KVA members), and then recommended by committee to fill the squads. Based on achievements, positions, classifications, collegiate plans and availability the squads are determined and divided into two teams which should provide for a very competitive match.
The KVA began the all star match twenty nine years ago in an effort to promote the sport of volleyball in the state of Kansas. It was designed to recognize all classifications in both coaching and playing venues. This is the one all star event which has state wide participation and ensures that all classifications are represented. Following the format of other all star events, like the Shrine Bowl in Football and the KBCA basketball all star game, the match will showcase twenty four of the most talented graduated seniors in the state of Kansas. KVA Executive Board members agree , “It is indeed an honor to be selected for this event because it involves some of the “best of the best” in the state of Kansas.” Because the match is administrated by the Kansas Volleyball Association (volleyball coaches association-non profit organization) the athletes must secure sponsors in order the fund the event. Local businesses, friends and family members of these athletes are to be commended and appreciated for their support.
