The Saline County Sheriff’s Office has just concluded a sweep of making sure that registered sex offenders in Saline County were living where they registered as their residence.

Michelle McMillin, registration specialist with the Sheriff’s Office said in a two week period deputies were able to locate and verify the location of the 180 sex offenders registered in Saline County.

McMillin said the sole purpose of verifying that the Sheriff’s Office has the most accurate information on the sex offenders in the community. The sweep was conducted prior to the end of the school year, when minor children will be on the streets and at home more.

Not only are sex offenders required to check in every 90 days in person at the Sheriff’s Office, so are violent offenders, and drug offenders.

If the offender moves, they need to contact the Sheriff’s Office within three business days.
