Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp was in Salina Saturday morning, speaking to a group of veterans. At the VFW convention held at the Ramada Inn this morning in Salina, the Congressman spoke about local issues pertaining the VA hospital in Wichita.

Huelskamp, who sits on the house committee of veterans affairs, has been outspoken on the issue.
The Congressman said he is asking the tough questions, but nobody is answering them. Congressman Huelskamp spoke of a secret waiting list at the Wichita VA clinic. At first he was informed there were 9 people on the list, he stated, “ By Thursday we were assured the number is 385.”
The Congressman also stated that he was informed that the issue is not related to finances, but that it is related to the system. When he spoke to the VA clinic in Wichita he was informed that they are still using DOS as their operating system. DOS is an operating system that is over two decades old.
In closing the Congressman spoke of how veterans are being forced to travel hundred of miles for treatments, he would like to see them get the care they deserve at their local hospitals.
