Meet Bryan Herwig, this week’s Hero of the Week!

Mr. Herwig is the Human Resources Manager at Philips Lighting in Salina, KS. He is dedicated to the almost 400 employees that work at Philips. He also spends much of his free time doing volunteer work.

One of Mr. Herwig’s most recent accomplishments is being part a Philips Lighting initiative called, The Gift of Light. The Gift of Light is a company wide initiative where Philips picks projects that help the communities that they are in. For the North American region, Philips Lighting chose to help the Ashby House, right here in Salina. Through this initiative, Ashby House will receive various forms of indoor and outdoor lighting through Philips Lighting.

Mr. Herwig also volunteers as a Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina. When asked why does he spend so much time volunteering, Mr. Herwig responded, “When I go home after a normal day I feel pretty beat up and exhausted, but the days I go home after giving back to the community I feel really good about myself, I feel like I did something to give back and add some value.”

Mr. Herwig also coordinates several different benefit drives at Philips to support fundraisers, such as the Salvation Army Angel Tree and the Souper Bowl. Mr. Herwig has a desire to give back to his community in order to make it a better place for all of us.
