Charges of excessive spanking put a 30-year-old Salina man in jail on a charge of child abuse.

Adam Pritchard is alleged to have spanked a toddler aged girl between April 29th and Wednesday, that left bruising on the girls buttocks.

A relative of the girl called police.

The girl was taken to Salina Regional Health Center to be checked out, and then was placed into protective custody.
