Jack V. Eddy, 91, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 23, 1923, in Checotah, Okla., the youngest son of 13 born to James J. and Ella (Keith) Eddy.
He married Evelyn Jewell (Cole) Eddy on Dec. 13, 1947, and was married more than 65 years.
Jack was a member of DAV, and was a lifetime member of Loran T. Manning Chapter, VFW 1432, Elks Country Club 718 and Union Pacific Employee Club 32.
Survivors include his children, Dale (Kathy) Eddy, of Salina, Alice (Bill) Sears, of Opal, Wyo., Barbara Disney (Mike Hopper), of Goodland, Stanley Eddy, of Atlantic Beach, Fla., Carol (Larry) Ellsworth, of Queens Creek, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Sharron Cole, of New Braunfel, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and his 12 siblings.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family to be used for the Alzheimer’s local unit.

WICHITA — Aaron D. Muchow, 76, of Wichita, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at his home in Wichita. He was born Oct. 18, 1937, to Edward Muchow and Lois (Donley) Muchow. He married Janice Moore on Oct. 20, 1960, in Hutchinson.
Aaron worked for Graves as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Teamsters Truck Driver’s Union and Genesis Health Club. Aaron also served in the National Guard. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Janice; three daughters, Janelle and husband Steve Lull, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Rhonda and husband Richard Schmid, of Salina, and Andria and husband Michael Luttrell, of Glenpool, Okla.; one sister, Karen Lawson, of Salina; brothers, Darvin Muchow and wife Gay, of Glendale, and Marvin Muchow and wife Sue, of Salina; six grandchildren, Kyle and Kale Schmid, Samantha and Bryan Lull, Jeren and Kelsey Luttrell; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Ryan Mortuary. Burial will take place after the service at Franklin Cemetery in Tescott.

SOLOMON — Jane Anne Martin, 73, of Solomon, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Dignity Care Home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Jane Anne Sullivan was born to Charles and Rachel Sullivan on April 22, 1941, in Solomon. Both Charles and Rachel preceded her in death.
Jane is survived by her husband, James Richard Martin, of Solomon; sister, Mary Margaret Godman, of Sutter Creek, Calif.; three children, Bryan (Rita) Martin, of Kansas City, Mo., and their children, Kendrick (Emily), Emily and Rebekah, Mary (Joel) Benson, of Solomon, Jean (Frederick) Covillo, of Parkville, Mo., and her children, Alexander, Erin and Kristopher Stimpfel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane grew up in a country farmhouse built by her father, west of Solomon just off of Highway 40. Since she was a child, she enjoyed performing on-stage and off, dancing, singing and playing the piano. As an adult, she enjoyed participating in several plays at Salina Community Theatre and singing with the Solomon Sopranos.
Jane graduated from Solomon High School, where she excelled academically. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts in music at Marymount College, after which she taught music at Solomon, Kipp and the Salina Sacred Heart schools.
While at Marymount, she met the love of her life, James Richard Martin. The couple was united in marriage on Dec. 26, 1960, and settled in Salina. In 1973, Jane and James, along with their three young children, moved from Salina to her childhood home outside of Solomon. In the mid-1970s, Jane commuted to Lawrence several times a week, where she completed her master’s degree in social work at the University of Kansas. She enjoyed a fulfilling career in the Salina community advocating for women and children.
Jane had an unwavering faith in God, in her family and in the goodness within others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and social worker. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was happiest volunteering her time as a member of the Immaculate Conception parish choir. As a founding member of the choir, she brought beautiful music to the Catholic mass and traveled to spread joy to many others, including the residents of retirement homes such as the Dignity Care Home where Jane ultimately spent her final years.
Jane will be greatly missed by all whose lives have been touched by her.
Vigil will be 7 p.m. Friday, June 13, at Immaculate Conception Church in Solomon. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family requests memorials be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Catholic Charities.

William “Bill” Henry Engelbert, 86, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014. He was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Beloit to John P. and Carrie (Heidrick) Engelbert.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; son, Dale and wife Susan, of Norton; daughter, Linda and husband William Mondt Jr., of Salina; stepchildren, Jay and wife Faye Hook, of Park City, and Kim and Tom Phelps, of Salina; sisters, Theresa Fairbanks, of Springfield, Va., and Mary Jennings, of Harbor City, N.J.; grandchildren, Brent and wife Amy, Zane and wife Amy, Elise and husband Trevis, Bryce, Bill III and wife Chris, and Marisa; stepgrandchildren, Stephanie and husband Don, Jason, Kelli and husband Richard, Kerry, Ed and wife Amy, Laura, Jeremy and wife Vanessa, and Luke and wife Maggie; eight great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret Reinert; and siblings, Robert, Raymond, Edward and John.
Bill attended grade school and high school at St. John’s Catholic School in Beloit. He was in the class of 1945.
He worked at Mortiz Implement as a mechanic for 30 years in Beloit.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Salina and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit. He was also a member of Saline County ARC and Jolly Mixers in Salina.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, with a vigil at 7, at Ryan Mortuary in Salina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, with burial at 2:30 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Beloit.

BROOKVILLE – Earl L. “Leroy” Hotz, 70, of Brookville, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Mr. Hotz was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Salina, the son of Herman and Urselina (Scharplaz) Hotz.
Leroy served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 and worked as a tool coordinator for Raytheon for 37 years. He was an avid coffee drinker and a friend to many.
Leroy was preceded in death by two nieces, Koal and Maxine. Survivors include three siblings, Fern Tague, of Omaha, Neb., Walter Hotz, of Salina, and Ida Stevenson, of Fall Creek, Ore.; and nine nieces and nephews, Kesa, Bernard, Kala, Keri, Shannon, Kena, Sabra, Jaymon and Marvin. Cremation was chosen.
There will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at the home of Keri and Greg Griswell, 3976 W. State St., Salina.

Howard LeRoy Miller was born on April 11, 1927 at Minneapolis, Kansas, the only son of George LeRoy (Roy) Miller and Wilma Nisbeth Miller. He passed away April 29, 2014, at the age of 87, at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis, Kansas.
