The following release is from the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office:

Just after 1am Sunday morning, deputies of the Dickinson County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a rural residence, in regards to an assault involving a stabbing.

Deputies arrived on the scene and found EMS treating 18-year-old Carson Sherbert of rural Abilene.

While at a party outside a rural Dickinson County residence, a fight broke out between numerous individuals. During the altercation Sherbert was allegedly stabbed with a knife several times by a 17-year-old male juvenile from the Junction City area.

Carson Sherbert was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of his stab wounds.

The 17-year-old juvenile remains in custody for the alleged stabbing.

Dickinson County Sheriff’s investigators are interviewing multiple witnesses believed to be present at the party. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
