Kathi Barton has been selected as this week’s BANK VI Hero of the Week.

Barton has worked in some way with children for over twenty years. To this day, she still gets up excited to make a difference.

At the day care center she operates, Barton takes care of children that range from newborn to middle school. While the children are in her care, all age groups interact together. The children have many different activities during the day including coloring, painting, science experiments, even looking at different animal x-rays on a light table.

Barton understands children and is a great resource for their parents. She engages their creative thinking, helps them learn social skills, reads to them, and loves them as her own. She is flexible in meeting her child care families’ needs, will drop children off at school, and responds with compassion to parent concerns.

Barton knew early in her career that she was meant to work with children and make a difference by becoming a family child care provider.
She recently completed her Associates Degree in Early Childhood and is close to receiving her Bachelors. Still, she finds time to run her own business, be a mother of four of her own children, a wife, and still put on a smile every day.
