Today is Patriots Day, we should all take this time to look back and reflect on the events of September 11th, 2001.
2,977 people died that day, not including the 19 hijackers. Of the 2,977 there were 343 firefighters, 23 police officers and 2 paramedics.
When the first tower went down, 1,762 souls were lost. When the second tower went down, 614 souls were lost.
Today in Salina, at Fire Station #1, located at 222 W Elm Street, the Honor Guard marched out to the flag pole. Chief Mullikin read the 9-11 timeline, after which the Honor Guard presented arms.
The ceremonies concluded with the fireman’s prayer.
