Beginning Thursday, Sept. 25th surface repairs will be made on the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 3.4 miles east of the I-70/K-43 Interchange (281).

Because a portion of the driving lanes has developed a washboard like surface an asphalt leveling layer will be applied to the highway followed by a new surface layer. The project will take two days to accomplish, weather permitting, and construction should be completed late in the day on Friday, Sept. 26th.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel in each direction at a reduced speed limit of 65 mph thru the work zones. Once the first set of lanes is completed the other set of lanes will be resurfaced. Construction will take place during daylight hours only.

The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the highway while improving ride quality.

Apac Kansas Inc. Shears Division is the prime contractor. Project cost is $84,786.70.
