Nova D. Atwood, 92, of Salina, passed away Monday, September 15th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Nova was born in Oswego, Kansas on March 20, 1922, son of the late Lena J. (Robison) and Nova Thomas Atwood.

He retired after 32 years from the USDA as a Soil Conservationist/Economist and he was a member of the National Association of Federal Employees.

Nova was a member of the First Christian Church Salina, Kansas.

Survivors include Son, Darroll Atwood and wife, Lanis of Ozawkie, Kansas; daughter-in-law , Sherrie Atwood, of Salina, Kansas; Granddaughter, Jennifer Atwood, of Denver, Colorado; brother, Dr. Dale Atwood, of Topeka, Kansas.

He is preceded by his wife, Dorothy (Jones) Atwood, and son, Doyle D. Atwood.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, September 19, 2014 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Greg Rea officiating.

Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery Salina, Kansas.

MENTOR — Stan “Abe” Guise, 74, of Mentor, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014. He was born Oct. 13, 1939, the son of Charles Maxwell and Loda Mae (Waddle) Guise. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willarene, and son, Tommy.

Abe was a 1957 graduate of Junction City High School and attended Kansas State University, studying mechanical engineering. He was avid in and had an extraordinary talent in the art of restoring antique automobiles. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Salina.

Survivors include five children, Sharon Lee Baird, Carol Ann Anderson, Louis Guise, Jeffrey Guise and Betty Guise; three grandchildren, Rhonda Coulter, April Green and Blaine Anderson; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at First Southern Baptist Church, Salina. Burial will be in Assaria Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Life Change Camp and Retreat Center, Clinton, Mo., and may be sent to or left at Ryan Mortuary, 137 North Eighth Street, Salina.
