Vanessa Cowie is this weeks BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Cowie, Animal Services Supervisor at The Salina Animal Shelter, was chosen for her work with Salina’s pet population. Since assuming her position in June, the shelter has maintained a 91% live release rate for dogs and an 85% live release rate for cats. Cowie credits her staff as well as the many volunteers that help socialize the animals and get them ready for adoption.

Cowie also stated that the Salina Animal Shelter is able to keep up with the amount of strays because more people are spaying and neutering their pets.
