Obituary 16 October, 2014

Robert L. Butler, 77, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014. He was born July 11, 1937, in Glasco, the son of Thomas Martin and Hazel Maude (Cooper) Butler. Robert married Georga A. Thomas on Oct. 19, 1957, in Glasco.

After graduating from Brown Mackie College, he worked for Gooch Mills and retired from Premier Pneumatics. Robert loved the Southwest, especially Indian art and cultures. He was an avid collector of Indian artifacts. He loved to fish and travel, never knew a stranger and would help anyone.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Georga, and grandson, Mason Thomas Butler. Survivors include three children, Susan R. Stark and husband Steve, of Kansas City, Mo., Kelly K. McGuigan, of Atlanta, Ga., and Tom W. Butler and wife Barbara, of Overland Park; and three grandchildren, Katie and Emily Stark and Jacob Butler.

A rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 230 E. Cloud, Salina. Inurnment will be at 2 p.m. in Glasco Cemetery, Glasco.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church or Tammy Walker Cancer Center, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina 67401.
