Carol Lee Adkins, 68, of Salina, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was born March 13, 19** in Glade, KS, the daughter of Carl and Hazel Ward.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Ward and a grandson, J.T. Survivors include her loving companion, Chuck Wagner; three children; Machel Barr and husband Gordon, Leslie Knight, Brad Knight and wife Tamara; three brothers; Doug Ward and wife Carol, Bob Ward and wife Roxie, and John Ward; one sister Shirley Robinson; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina.

Glenn F. Mitchell, 99, of Salina, born Oct. 3, 1915, in Nickerson, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, at his home. Glenn was educated by the Nickerson School system, Hutchinson Junior College, Kansas Wesleyan University and attained his master’s degree in education administration from Kansas State University.
During his time at Kansas Wesleyan University he met Mildred W. Nothern, whom he married July 22, 1939. She survives at the home.
Glenn taught school at Lincoln, Kan., until called into the Army during World War II. He returned to teaching and coaching at Stockton, advanced into administration, and served as superintendent of schools at Stockton, Madison and South Lyon County, from which he retired in 1980. During retirement, Glenn enjoyed golf, gardening, travel and most important to him, spending time with his family.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Mildred; and children, Roger Mitchell and Lenore Schneider, Glenda Mitchell Kline and Ron, Roy Mitchell and Carolyn, and Drell Mitchell and Cheryl; grandchildren, Brian Mitchell and Kim, Cory Mitchell and Grace, Nicholas Mitchell and Emily, Dustin Mitchell and Nicole, Brett Mitchell and Jenny and Kelly Mitchell; and great-grandchildren, Julia and Grant Mitchell.
Cremation was chosen for Glenn, and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials in Glenn’s name may be made to Kansas Wesleyan University, Hospice of Salina or Madison United Methodist Church. Ryan Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Carol Jo Jackson, 73, of Salina, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. The youngest of 10 children, she was born Nov. 25, 1941, in Salina, the daughter of Michael and Clara (Braun) Korbe. Carol worked at Tony’s Pizza for several years and retired after 18 years of service at Asbury/Salina Regional Hospital, working in housekeeping, and later in surgery as an anesthesia technician.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, John (in February); her parents; sisters, Betty Huffaker and Georgianna Bergquist; and brothers, Richard, George, Albert “Bob” and Norman Korbe.
She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara (Michael) Reyer, Debra Morris and Christina (Dennis) Zimmerman, all of Salina. Surviving sisters are Millie Crook, Tillie Addison and Barbara Struck. Carol had eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Carol liked to camp, fish and spend time outdoors taking care of her yard and tending to her flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved taking them to the park, riding bikes, sledding and playing board and card games.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth St., Salina 67401. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Debra Morris Medical Support Fund, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
