A 24-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon, after being caught in the act of a home burglary just northwest of Salina.
Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said a 13-year-old boy coming home from school noticed the front door of his home in the 2400 block of Cottonwood kicked in about 3:30pm, and watched a man run from the home. The teen left the area of the home and called authorities.
As a deputy was responding to the call, he saw a Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper had a male subject on the ground at gun point, not far from the burglary.
24-year-old Apollo Jolly is alleged to have ransacked the home of Joe and Angela Allen. Damage included holes in the walls of the home and damage to doors and furnishings.
$275 in cash was reported missing from the home along with a possible $500 pearl necklace. Loss and damage is estimated at $3,775.
Sheriff Kochanowski said that Jolly, who bonded out of jail on a probation charge Monday evening, was not acting rationally when arrested.
Jolly was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated burglary, theft, and felony criminal to damage.
