Benjamin-Brubaker-1426598383vet_ffffffBenjamin Clair Brubaker, 92, of Salina, passed away Monday, March 16th, at Salina Regional Health Center.

Benjamin was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on May 18, 1922, a son of the late Esther N. (Anderson) and Harry Benjamin Brubaker.

Benjamin served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in heavy construction as a mill right for many years until he was hired by the City of Salina in maintenance, from which he retired.

He was a member of the VFW #6485 for 65 years in Ellsworth, the Masonic Lodge Salina and Ellsworth, the Royal Arch Masons, the York Rite Masons, and the Knights Templar. Benjamin was also a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church. Benjamin also enjoyed the hobbies of bee keeping and playing the accordian. Additionally, he always had a great fondness for trains and the railroad.

Benjamin was the widower of Elaine Irene (Rhodes) Brubaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Kitty Balnis, of Salina, Kansas; sons,Steven Brubaker, of Ellsworth, Kansas, Dewaine Brubaker, of Dallas, Texas; brother, Louis Brubaker of Bavaria, Kansas; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine; brother,Harry Theodore Brubaker; daughter, Gracie Manion and special friend, Agnes McGilvrey.

Visitation will be held on at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the at Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Salina at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, with Rev. Martha Murchison officiating. Burial will be held at Ellsworth City Cemetery in Ellsworth, Kansas.

3009679_wlppMarjorie L. Miller, 94, Oakley, formerly of Minneapolis, died Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Logan County Manor, Oakley. She was born September 5, 1920 on the Zuker homestead to Erl M. and Frances I. (Clark) Zuker.

Marjorie graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1938. She then worked for Worthington Dry Goods Store and J.C. Penney both in Minneapolis.
Marjorie and Elmo B. Miller were united in marriage on October 1, 1944 at the First Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. She was a full time homemaker and she served as the secretary of Highland Cemetery for many years. Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was the nursery Sunday school teacher for over 20 years.
She was proud that she could live in her own home and care for herself until September 2013. At that time she moved to the Logan County Manor in Oakley so she could be close to her daughter and family. Marjorie always kept herself busy with jigsaw puzzles, word searches, cross stitch, Christmas stockings, writing letters, and calling her family and many friends. She so enjoyed and loved her family.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Elmo B. Miller in 2006; son Curtis E. Miller in 1988; and her brother and sister-in-law Melvin and Erma Jeanne Zuker.
Survivors include her daughter Karen Peterson and husband Doug of Monument; daughter-in-law Cheryl Miller of Manhattan; grandchildren Craig Miller of Wichita, Carrie Foster and husband Chris of Lindsborg, and Shelby Hales and husband Nathan of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Curtis, and Braeden Miller, and Clayton and Collin Foster; sister-in-law Viola Miller of Wichita; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 20 at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the Highland Cemetery Fence Fund, or the Ottawa County Historical Museum.
