Obituary – May 11, 2015

Roy Lee Flaherty, 78, of Beverly, passed away Saturday, May 9th, at Salina Regional Health Center

Roy was born in Lincoln, KS on October 8, 1936, to the late Lillian (Kingan) and Leo Flaherty.

Roy was a high school graduate, and worked as a construction superintendent. Earlier in his life he played minor league baseball for the Detroit Lions organization.

He was married to Wanda Flaherty, who precedes him in death.

Survivors include his step daughters, Barbara Mathis, of Broken Bow, OK, and Beth Watts, of Broken Bow, OK; step sons Charles Owens, of Pardisy, OK; Frank(Daloris) Hastings, of Houston, TX, and Vance(Linda) Hastings, of Lyndsey, OK; brothers, Don (Ruth) Flaherty, of Fredrick Town, MO; Vern (Sharon) Flaherty, of Salina, David (Aleta) Flaherty, of Salina, Herbert Flaherty, of Beverly, KS; Harold Flaherty, of Plainville, KS, and Denny Joe (Debbie) Flaherty, of Beverly, KS; sisters, Charlene DeWitt, of Beverly, KS, and Marlene Arther, of Beverly, KS; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Butch, and stepson, Joe.

Cremation has been chosen. A Memorial Service will be held at Vesper Gymnasium in Vesper from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 16th, 2015.
