Bombers Drop Heart Breaker in Overtime

salina bombersThe Salina Bombers traveled to Wichita on Saturday night to visit the Force with first place on the line. The Bombers had the lead 20-13 at halftime and 26-19 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Bombers built that lead to 40-26 with 6:21 remaining in the game, but were unable to hold Wichita off.  The Force would score the last 14 points of regulation to move the game into overtime.

The overtime period started with a short-lived Force possession as Isiah Barfield intercepted a pass from Force quarterback Emmanuel Taylor.  It seemed Salina had the game in reach as the sudden death overtime would end on a Bomber score of any kind.  However, on a second down and goal from the seven yard line, the Bombers had a pass intercepted by Force defensive back Kiaree Daniels, who took the interception back for a Force touchdown and the winning score.  Wichita moved to 7-3 on the season with the 46-40 overtime victory and now are in sole possession of 1st place in the CIF.

Salina drops to 6-5 on the season as they head into a bye week and will host San Angelo at home on May 30th.
