Mike and Nikki Ascher are your BANK VI Heroes of the Week!

Mike and Nikki are nominated for their part in orchestrating and revitalizing the Guns and Hoses Flag Football charity event. The event, which is held in the first week of October, is a flag football game between the fireman and policeman of Salina. In addition to the football game, there is a BBQ for all who come. There are also activities for the children, such as face painting and a bounce house. The event also has live music from local performers and an auction.

2014 was the first year Mike and Nikki orchestrated the event and over 500 people were in attendance. The event was very successful and they were able to raise $16,000 for families in need. The donations raised last year were split between two families in need, both of the families each had a child with the same rare heart defect. The donations went towards treatments and preventative care.

This year Mike and Nikki want to see the event draw 1,000 people. They have plans of making it bigger and better every year and would even like to make it a two day event. If you would like to follow them on Facebook and learn how you could help just click here!
