KWU Athletics To Host 5th Annual Night with the ‘Yotes August 15th

KWU_NightYotes_2015Kansas Wesleyan University will hosts the 5th Annual Night with the ‘Yotes event on Saturday, August 15th, in Heritage Hall at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, starting at 5:30 p.m.

The event will kick off with a social event and the opportunity to bid on items in the silent auction as well as other opportunities to support Kansas Wesleyan Athletics.  A dinner follows at 7 p.m., with the live auction to follow.

“Night with the ‘Yotes is our signature fundraising event,” said Mike Hermann, Kansas Wesleyan Director of Athletics. “The event provides a great kick-off atmosphere for the upcoming year. We are fortunate that the Salina community is so supportive.  It was great last year to see more than 500 people in attendance.”

Members of the Salina community along with athletics staff comprised the on-campus committee for the event.  The committee is co-chaired by Kent Lambert and Phil Coleman.

KWU alum Bob Murray will receive the Gerald Lilly Award.  A 1971 graduate, Murray continues to serve Kansas Wesleyan.  He served as an assistant basketball coach many seasons and as head women’s coach one season.  He also serves on several committees on campus including the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Athletic Hall of Fame committee, the Coyote Cup committee and the Night with the ‘Yotes committee.  Bob and his wife Pat also made a leadership gift to the recent campaign for the Graves Family Sports Complex. Bob also continues his support of Kansas Wesleyan Athletics by attending many games and other KWU events.

The Gerald Lilly Award is presented to a person or group that exemplifies outstanding dedication and commitment to Kansas Wesleyan Athletics.  The award is named for Gerald Lilly, a fervent supporter of KWU, who has been attending games since 1948. It is presented annually at the Night with the Yotes event.

Tickets for the 5th Annual Night with the Yotes event are now available.  Individual tickets are $40 per person, reserved seating tables for eight are $320.  A VIP Table, which includes special seating and logo recognition at the event, is available for $500.  Contact Mike Hermann in the KWU athletic department, mike.hermann@kwu.edu or 785.827.5541 ext 3232 for more information. Information, including online ticket purchasing, for the event is also available online at www.kwu.edu/yotes

Funds raised at Night with the ‘Yotes directly benefit student-athletes at KWU.  The funds help offset costs during the year, including equipment purchases, facility enhancements and providing an outstanding experience for student-athletes.
