A 39-year-old Salina man is arrested early Sunday morning after a brief chase where speeds got up to 75 mph. Police Captain Mike Sweeney said officers were sent to the 500 block of S. Broadway around 3:00 a.m. on a report of a careless and reckless driver.

An officer observed a pickup, driven by Jerimiah Daniels, make improper lane changes and run a red light on W. Crawford. The officer was able to catch up to the pickup as it turned off of North Broadway onto West Walnut. Daniels did not stop after the officer turned on his lights and siren.

The chase continued on several residential streets until the pickup struck a curb and hit a tree in the 600 block of E. Prescott.

Daniels was arrested on charges of DUI, fleeing and eluding, and other traffic violations.
