Salina Crime Report – July 6th

crime reportSalina Police are investigating a business burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of July 4th. According to Salina Police Capt. Chris Trocheck, someone broke out the glass of the front door at Rod’s Convenience Store #2, 1339 N. 9th, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Once inside, the thief took an undetermined amount of cigarettes. Damage to the door has been estimated at $200.

Mark Post tells Salina Police that someone kicked in the front door of his apartment, located at 1002 Johnstown. The burglary occurred sometime between 6:00 p.m. June 30th and 1:00 a.m. July 5th. Items taken included a Sony PlayStation 3 game console and a pair of Beats wireless headphones. Total value of the items was estimated at $400 and total damage to the door was placed at $200.

Salina residents Cassandra Whitmer and Colt Hardesty tell Salina Police that someone entered their unlocked residence at 454 S. 12th, and took several items. The burglary occurred sometime between 9:00 a.m. July 3rd and 3:00 p.m. July 5th. Items taken included a Pioneer CD changer, several CD’s, a lock box containing $800 in cash, a jewelry box and jewelry, a 48 piece toolkit, and a Sony 12″ flat screen television. Total value of the items was estimated at $1,500.

A used car dealership, DJ’s Auto Sales, 1615 N. 9th, reports that three vehicles at the dealership were either broken into or damaged. According to Capt. Trocheck, the incident occurred between 8:30 p.m. July 2nd and 11:00 a.m. July 3rd at the business. The driver’s side window of a red Honda Civic was broken out and a Sony CD player was removed from the vehicle. The thief then entered a 2000 Kia Sportage, which has a window partially rolled down, and removed a Sony CD player from that vehicle. The dealership also reports that the front quarter panel of a red Buick Regal was damaged. Total value of the stolen CD players was estimated at $500 and total damage to the vehicles was estimated at $200.
