Introducing Randy Eastman, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Randy was nominated for his involvement with Heartland Programs, where he currently serves as their transportation supervisor. Heartland Programs is a head start program that sometimes involves students with disabilities.

As the transportation supervisor, Randy takes care of the program’s vehicles, including their school buses. He works closely with three drivers and three monitors.

Many of the children utilizing the bus at Heartland do not have a male role model in their home or in their lives at all. Randy takes the time to kneel down, get to their level and speak to each and every one of them. All of the staff and children at Heartland adore him.

Randy is sometimes at the school as early as 4:00 a.m. each morning, helping clear the parking lot and sidewalks of snow for the children, parents, and staff. He can be seen doing such things as hanging a bulletin board for a staff member or fixing a tire on a tricycle. Randy can be seen making his famous Kettle Corn for the children and families during the end of the school year picnic.

He will often stop by the infant and toddler rooms to say hello and give hugs to the special children, who may not have a male figure in their lives. Randy has even helped staff members by jump starting their cars or changing tires. Randy is a wonderful role model to parents who send their children to Heartland. He greets all the children and parents and makes them feel welcome when driving the bus or walking the halls of the school.

Those close to him say that he is like a “Super Man” and is literally everywhere. His colleagues says that “he would do anything for anyone and we are so very blessed to have him in our lives, he is certainly a hero in our community!”
