Salina Police are investigating an aggravated battery of a 26-year-old homeless man that occurred in the area of 9th Street and I-70 late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The victim was found sitting in front of the Pilot Travel Center, 1944 N. 9th, at about 10:00 a.m. with his face covered in blood.

The victim was suffering from cuts on his head and ears, a skull fracture, and lower broken jaw.

He was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries.

Police Captain Mike Sweeney said as of Monday morning, investigators have not had the chance to talk to the victim about what happened.
