Joseph Paul (Yusuf Baseel Abdullah) Robles, 26, of Salina, KS, passed away Sunday, August 23rd. Joseph was born in Salina, Kansas on March 1, 1989, a son of Julie (Anderson) Robles and Alberto Robles.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Anthony Michael Robles and wife, Arely A. Delarosa Robles of Salina; nieces and nephews, Kadin, Paul, Lillyan, and Michael Robles all of Salina; grandmother, Beatrice M. Robles of Delphis; grandmother, Carol Endsly; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends.
He was preceded by his grandfather, Paul Robles.
Services will be held by the Islamic Society of Wichita, 6655 E. 34th St. North, Wichita, Kansas on Friday, August 28th at 2:00 PM with burial following at Muqbra Muslim Cemetery in Augusta, Kansas

Jose Larquin “Joe” Valdez, 76, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 26th, 2015 while in the company of family members, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
Jose was born in Lumberton, New Mexico on January 20, 1939, a son of Teresa (Arguello) and Pedro Antonio Valdez, Sr.
Joe attended the St. John’s Evangelist Schools, Rapid City, South Dakota.
Joe was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church McPherson, Kansas and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Joe honorably served in the U.S. Army as a E-4 Transportation.
Joe was a Cement Mason for the Kansas Local Union #518.
Joe was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Cub Scouts; Operative Plasters & Cement Masons International Union Local #518 Kansas from 1967 to 1997; Life member of the American Veterans and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715, McPherson.
Joe was united in marriage to Gloria Joan Whiting on August 19, 1961 at Rapid City, South Dakota. The young couple established their first home together in Rapid City.
Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over fifty-four years, Gloria Valdez, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Martha T. Yoder and her husband Monty, of Alva, Oklahoma, Tracy Scott and her husband Roger, of McPherson, Kansas, and Daniel Valdez and his wife Cindy, of Fort Scott, Kansas; his siblings, Emil Valdez and his wife Betty, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Fidel H. Valdez and his wife Sandy, of Nevada, Pedro A. Valdez, Jr., of Rapid City, South Dakota, LeRoy Valdez, of Rapid City, South Dakota, Julia Vigil, of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Theresa Rowland and her husband Randy, of Rapid City, South Dakota; his 6 Grandchildren; Kiri Nicole, Elise Marie, D’Ann Renee and Amber Leigh Yoder and Andrew James Martin; his 6 great-grandchildren, Sean, Ben, and Kale Martin, Isabelle, Annika, and Catelya Yoder; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Julian and Freddie Valdez.
Friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 30, 2015 from 2 to 3 pm with rosary starting at 3:15 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31st, 2015 with Fr. Hien Nguyen officiating.
Final Resting Place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas. Military honors will be presented by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24, both of McPherson.

Alfred Joe Henley, 72, passed away August 25, 2015 in Wilson after a battle with cancer. He was born May 8, 1943 in Florence, CO to Lula Taylor (Meltabarger) and John Ernest Henley.
Alfred is survived by his brother, John Henley of Holyrood; sister, Lois Hinton (Francis) of Holyrood; sister, Madelyn Cook of Holyrood; and brother, Garry Henley (Patricia) of Okmulgee, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Ernest Henley and David Verle Henley; and companion, Gisela Dubrule.
Private family burial took place at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Cemetery, Holyrood.

Vivian J. Childers, 86, of Hutchinson and formerly of Wichita, Scottsdale, AZ, and McPherson, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Via Christi – St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper.
Vivian was born on July 1, 1929, in Piedmont, OK, the daughter of Archie Bryan and Myrtle Sabra (McLane) Dickerson. She graduated from Central Academy, McPherson.
She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include: three children, Jean Stevenson and husband, JR, of Hutchinson, KS, Diane Parrish and husband, Wayne, of McPherson, KS, and Darrell Bacon and wife, Stephanie, of McPherson, KS; eight grandchildren, Valerie Bonham, Joshua Phillips, Nick Hutchinson, Todd Jetton, David Parrish, Philip Parrish, Mark Bacon, and Adam Bacon; 14 great-grandchildren, Cade Bacon, Ellie Bacon, Owen Bacon, Miles Jetton, Mia Jetton, Collin Parrish, Bailey White, Avery Parrish, Emory Parrish, Kara Wright, Aaron Wright, Jordan Phillips, Katelyn Phillips, and Evander Hutchinson.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ken Childers, brother, Elvon Dickerson, and sisters, Ardath Clark and Betty DeLong.
The graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2015, at McPherson Cemetery with Rev. Mick Green officiating.

Melvin Joseph Scheck, 85, of Russell, Kansas, passed
away Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at his home.
Melvin was born February 8, 1930 in Victoria, Kansas, the seventh child of thirteen children to Joseph and Magdalena (Windholz) Scheck. He grew up in the Victoria and Walker area and graduated from Victoria High School in 1949. His senior year he was award the Certificate of Proficiency from South-Western Publishing Co. for being the top of his class in typing.
Melvin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a supply specialist. After his service he returned to the Victoria area.
Melvin was united in marriage to Maxine Wyant on August 20, 1955 in Gorham, Kansas. This union was blessed with three sons; Charles, Kenny and Chris. They made their home in Russell.
Melvin worked for the Kansas Power and Light Company for over 32 years. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was a weekday Mass server for 20 years and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Russell American Legion Post #99. He enjoyed doing handy work for the elderly, tending his vegetable garden, making his famous noodles, camping and fishing, and doing woodworking.
Surviving family include his wife of 60 years, Maxine of the home; two sons, Kenny Scheck (Stephanie) and Chris Scheck both of Russell, Kansas; two brothers, Ed Scheck of Russell, Kansas and Linus Scheck of Maxville, Kansas; three sisters, Lena Meder and Katie Scheck both of Victoria, Kansas and Bina Dinkel of Oakley, Kansas; four grandchildren, Corey Scheck, Matthew Scheck, Jessica Scheck and Aaron Scheck; and three great grandchildren, Allison Scheck, Maggie Scheck and Evelyn Scheck. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Anthony Scheck; four brothers and three sisters.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 29, 2015 at St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Russell. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 5 PM at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary. Vigil and Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, August 28, 2015 at the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church. A Memorial has been established with the St. Mary’s Building Fund.
