Sheriff’s Office Investigating Burglary

saline county sheriffs PatchA family in the process of moving is the victim of a home burglary.

Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said the 15-year-old daughter of Mark Miller came home from school Wednesday afternoon to find the front door of their home in the 3600 block of Smolan Road forced opened.

The girl went to a neighbor’s home and called her dad and deputies.

Household and personal items that had been boxed up for the move had been gone through. Taken was a 32-inch flat screen TV, a safe containing coins, cash, jewelry, and personal papers. Also missing is a tool box with hand tools, cordless drill, video camera, and a woman’s gold wedding ring with diamonds.

A shed in the yard was also broken into. Taken from that shed was an air compressor and generator. The burglary occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.

Total damage and loss is estimated at $5374.
