A Salina man is arrested on charges of burglary and theft after he illegally entered the home of an acquaintance. 37-year-old Aaron Green is alleged to have entered the residence at 1935 S. 4th between 6 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on September 2nd. Police say that Green, who was arrested the following day, is accused of consuming a honey bun valued at $2.

A Salina man is nearly the victim of a scam. Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said the man had been arrested and bonded out of jail on September 5th. The following day, he received two calls from a man claiming to be Dennis from B&K Bonding of Salina. The caller claimed that an additional $650 was needed by the bonding company or his bond would be revoked and he would be returned to jail. The man was instructed to send the money using a MoneyGram. A short time later, the man went to Walmart to send the money. While there, he received a second call from a different number. He then contacted Dennis from B&K Bonding and discovered that Dennis had never called him and was told that no further money was necessary. The man never sent the MoneyGram and no money was lost.

Police are investigating vandalism to a Salina man’s vehicle. Jerome Crowthers notified police after he discovered that someone shattered the windshield and side window of his 2001 Dodge Ram pickup, while it was parked at 735 S. 11th, between 11:30 p.m September 4th and 9:30 a.m. September 5th. Capt. Sweeney said the damage, which totaled $600, appeared to have been done with a blunt instrument.

Police are investigating the burglary of a Salina hotel room. Stephen Smith reports that someone illegally entered his room, possibly through a window, at the Ambassy Motel, 217 S. Broadway, and removed several items, inclding a Nintendo Wii game console, a Dell laptop computer, a Samsung Galaxy 5 cellular phone and a 32″ flat screen television. The burglary occurred between 5:30 p.m. September 4th and 5:15 a.m. September 5th. Total loss has been estimated at $475. There were no signs of forced entry to the room.
