A Salina woman and her nephew have been arrested on requested charges of burglary and theft for allegedly taking a purse out of a motel room left by a guest.

A North Carolina woman reports she left her purse in her room when she checked out of the Econo Lodge Inn and Suites, 1846 N. 9th, about 9 a.m. Monday morning. The purse contained at least $368 in cash.

A check of security video determined the purse had been taking by a housekeeper at the motel, 67-year-old Barbara Thayer, and her 44-year-old nephew Scotty LaFleur.

They were booked into the Saline County Jail Tuesday morning.

The purse and contents were not recovered.
