10th Annual Guns & Hoses Charity Event Set for October 17th and 18th

GunsHosesLogoThis year, Salina Guns & Hoses is raising money for Mighty Max and the Brubaker family. Mighty Max is 18 months old. He was born 6 weeks premature and developed bacterial meningitis. He had to have a brain shunt put in that he will have for the rest of his life. Max has had 4 brain surgeries and 2 shunt repair surgeries due to failure. Max has spent nearly 6-7 months of his life in the hospital. He has nearly succumbed to his medical issues on two occasions. He was able to pull through both times, which is why he was dubbed the name Mighty Max. The family is drowning financially due to the medical bills, but then to add to it, Max is allergic to eggs and milk, which means that he requires special formula that is extremely expensive.

This year, Salina Guns & Hoses is a 2 day event. The silent auction will now be held on Saturday, October 17th, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Masonic Temple. There are some great items again this year! We have really tried to emphasize community relations this year, specifically with law enforcement, given some of the negative things that have been in the national spotlight recently. The Sheriff’s Office will have the SIDNE (simulated impaired driving) go-carts out that day. The Sheriff’s Office will also have Operation Medicine Cabinet set up so people can bring old medication for disposal. The Salina Police Department will have their SWAT vehicle on display, as well as one of their new motorcycles, and the new Ford Interceptor SUV’s. There will be food by Chapman’s Takeaway, a bounce house from Bounce-A-Roos and entertainment. Saturday will also be T-shirt pick-up day if you ordered a shirt and didn’t choose the shipping option. If you would like a T-shirt and haven’t ordered yet, go to www.tinyurl.com/salinagh or email saso1192@yahoo.com with your order and payment arrangements.

On Sunday, October 18th, the football game will take place between your local law enforcement (representatives from the Sheriff’s Office, Police Department and KHP) and the Salina Fire Departement. Coach Eric Clayton will be there with the new indoor arena football team, the Salina Liberty, doing skills and drills with the kids. Last year, nearly 500 people attended.

A drawing will be held for raffle prizes at the game. This year, items being given away include a Rock River Arms AR-15 rifle and a Green Mountain Daniel Boone Grill. Tickets are currently available for each item at both Wilson Security and The Appliance Center. Tickets will also be available on Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th.

1 ticket – $5, 3 tickets – $10, 10 tickets – $25
