A Saline County Deputy was not hurt when his patrol SUV struck a cow early Sunday morning while he was responding to a possible structure fire.

Captain Roger Soldan said Deputy Scott Trembley struck the cow at about 3:30 a.m. on Brookville Road, just south of State Street.

Trembley was responding to a possible fire on N. House Road that turned out to be a bonfire.

A damage estimate on the SUV was not available Monday morning. The cow was killed.
