Introducing Dr. David Atherton, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Dr. Atherton, a local veterinarian, was nominated for his efforts in saving a kitten that was in need of immediate care. When a local girl recently posted to social media about a very sick kitten that needed immediate medical attention, Dr. Atherton responded to her post to bring the ailing young feline to him.

The kitten had been diagnosed with feline herpes with a secondary bacterial infection that had spread to her eye. The girl had taken the kitten to a veterinarian and paid the medical costs, but the treatment was not effective and was expensive. As a result, she was no longer able to help the kitten.

There were many posts to the social media site from those that were following the kitten’s ongoing issues and even some that were willing to contribute.

Seeing this, Dr. Atherton requested that the kitten be dropped off at his office and he would perform the surgery the kitten needed and he was even willing to take care of the financial expenses required. His actions gave this young kitten a chance at life, a truly amazing gift, and a selfless and generous act.

One individual stated, “when many would have turned away this kitten without payment up front, this man did not. He is a true community man.”

According to Dr. Atherton, the kitten is now in a good home.
