UPDATE:
A Salina man is tackled by police as he runs away from a stolen pickup he had been pursed in by officers late Friday night.
Captain Mike Sweeney said an officer noticed a pickup in the 700 block of N. Broadway without a license plate at about 11:30 p.m. When the officer was going to stop the pickup, the driver fled and eluding officers on several residential streets in northwest Salina, with speeds reaching as high as 85 mph.
Officers located Brandon Main as he was running east from where he left the pickup, which was located behind a home in the 1100 block of Park.
After being tackled by officers, an investigation determined that Main had broke into Bill’s Truck and Auto and stole the 2010 Silverado pickup owned by Long McArthur Ford.
A diagnostic scanner, race car scales, an HP printer and tools taken from the business were also found in the pickup. Total value of the pickup and stolen items was placed at $24,500. Damage to the door at the business was estimated at $100.
