Is it a book or an adventure? It’s both! Don’t miss this chance to meet some amazing Kansas characters as well as some ordinary Kansans who have done extraordinary things. It’s all between the covers of 999 Kansas Characters: Ad Astra, a Biographical Series. Selected as a 2015 Kansas Notable Book, this book is the first in a series and focuses on adventurers, astronauts, discoverers, explorers, pilots, pioneers and scientists.
Authors, Dave Webb, Terry Rombeck and Beccy Tanner, serve as your guides on a delightful, surprising and inspiring journey through the book. They’ll highlight numerous Kansans, including a few from the 1960s to complement our current exhibit. Dave Webb is the assistant director of the Kansas Heritage Center, a historian and author. Terry Rombeck is a professional writer and has worked for the Lawrence Journal-World and the University of Kansas Alumni Association and is currently in advertising with Via Christi. And Beccy Tanner is the history writer for the Wichita Eagle. They will also be on hand to sign copies of the adventure – err – book.
This free presentation is offered at the Smoky Hill Museum, on Thursday, November 5, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
