Food Establishment Inspections conducted in Dickinson County by the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Food Safety and Lodging from October 30 through November 5, 2015.

Food safety and lodging inspections are unannounced, and inspection results represent only those conditions found in the establishment at the time of the inspection.

Abilene High School, 1300 N. Cedar St. – Abilene (November 3)
– Raw shell eggs setting on shelf above fresh broccoli and tomatoes inside walk-in cooler. Corrected on site: moved raw shell eggs to lower rack by itself.
– Stainless steel pans nested together with water between pans on shelf in salad bar prep area.
– Tongs and spoons used for salad bar are stored jumbled with handles and food contact surface going in several different directions.
– Ceiling of walk-in cooler cracked in two different areas and per employee drips condensation.

Casey’s General Store #1974, 201 S. Buckeye Ave. – Abilene (November 3) Quality Assurance Inspection
– Packaged Casey’s Chow and iced cookies out for customer self service without ingredient list. Corrected on site: labeled.
– Mixer above clean bowl is dirty. Corrected on site: cleaned.
– Due to construction, several flies in kitchen by bag in box pop. Discussed fly control options.

St. Andrews Elementary School, 301 S. Buckeye Ave. – Abilene (November 3)
– No detectable sanitizer in mechanical warewashing machine. Corrected on site: changed sanitizer bottle and primed until 100 ppm Chlorine.
– Light covers above food prep area covered in dust.

The Dish, 207 N. Cedar St. – Abilene (November 3)
– Lids for food storage containers stored as clean inside cupboard with old date mark stickers on surface. Corrected on site: moved to warewashing to be cleaned.
– Portable fan on shelf above prep table full of dust.
– Unclean linens setting on top of packaged bread in kitchen. Corrected on site: moved linens to laundry bag.
– Case of single service lids setting on floor in expo area and to-go containers on floor of back room.
– No toilet tissue available in men’s toilet room. Corrected on site: supplied with toilet tissue.
– Bottle of lavender linen oil stored touching spices on shelf above handwashing sink. Corrected on site: moved lavender oil to handwashing sink area.
