Police have arrested a man in connection with the aggravated battery of a woman.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells The Salina Post that 24-year-old Sawyer Reinert is accused of battering a female acquaintance during the course of a disturbance early Saturday morning.

Sweeney said Reinert attempted to strangle the woman just after 12:30 a.m. at a Salina home. Officers found vertical red marks on both sides of the base of the woman’s neck and signs of petechiae or bursting of the blood vessels of the eyes.

Reinert was later located and booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery. He also faces a charge of criminal damage to property for allegedly breaking an electric scentsy pot during the disturbance.
