Introducing Emanuel Manwaring, your BANK VI Hero of the Week!

Emanuel was nominated for his work to collect food for Catholic Charities of Northern Kansas through an organization he created called “Gamers For Food”.

Through “Gamers For Food”, Emanuel launched a video gaming tournament in which entrants must donate 10 non-perishable food items to participate. Emanuel’s goal with this tournament is to collect 1,300 pieces of food to donate to the local Catholic Charities Food Pantry. Baskets will then be made to donate to those who are in need.

The tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at The Arena, 427 S. Broadway, is the first one to ever be held. Emanuel is hoping to hold the tournament every single year and continue to donate food to the Catholic Charities. Despite working two jobs, Emanuel spends between 12 to 14 hours a week working on getting things in place for the tournament.

Emanuel said he would like to see this type of event spread to other Kansas communities. “I’m hoping someone in Manhattan or Wichita will call me and say ‘hey, how did you that?’ and then start their own thing,” he said.
