William E. Schmidt, 96 of Abilene passed away November 26, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born August 9, 1919 in Ruskin, Nebraska, the son of Emil and Emma (Kolling) Schmidt. On February 21, 1942 he was united in marriage to Betty R. Liesenfelt in Mankato, Kansas. She preceded him in death January 16, 2000. Bill was a truck driver, gas station operator and later on after retiring, enjoyed woodworking, building furniture for his family and friends. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene.
Bill is survived by two daughters, Patricia Holt and husband Mike of Abilene and Linda Morton and husband Ralph of Abilene. Three Sons, Norm Schmidt and wife Vickie of Abilene, Douglas Schmidt and Christopher Schmidt. Nine Grandchildren, Fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Sister-in-law Florence Schmidt and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Betty, great-granddaughter Tenleigh Robison, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services for Bill will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Justin Panzer officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. The family suggests memorials be given to the Faith Lutheran Church. BRAXTON MICHAEL WILLIAMS, died November 27, 2015 at Children’s Mercy Hostital in Kansas City, MO. He was born on November 23, 2015 in Topeka, KS, the son of Christopher and Tiffany (Manning) Williams. Braxton was preceded in death by two great-grandfathers, Norman Hedberg and Troy Dixon.
