SALINE COUNTY – One suspect arrested in a drug bust on Interstate 135 on Thursday morning, has been identified as an employee of the Wichita School District.

Shelly Moore, 46, is a school psychologist at Wichita Southeast High School and she has been a district employee for 22 years, according to the school website.

Moore is suspended from her job pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the school district.

Saline County Sheriff’s Captain Roger Soldan tells The Salina Post that a deputy stopped a vehicle for failure to maintain a lane shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday morning on Interstate 135. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he detected the smell of marijuana.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, 14.6 pounds of marijuana was discovered in the trunk and drug paraphernalia, including 4 ounces of marijuana wax, was found in the front of the vehicle.

44-year-old Frank Moore and 46-year-old Shelly Moore were taken into custody and booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no tax stamp.

Soldan indicated that the couple was returning to Wichita from Denver, Colorado.
