Jimmy Dean “Jim” Gatewood, 60, of Galva, Kansas, passed away at 12:06 p.m., Thursday, December 3rd, 2015 while in the company of family members, at his home, rural Galva, Kansas.

Jim was born in Columbus, Kansas on June 19, 1955, a son of Joan (Butler) Gatewood, and Wayne Gatewood.

Jim attended Dunlap Grade School and Council Grove High School.

Jim worked for Quest in Hartford, Kansas and MCDS in McPherson as a caregiver.

Jim enjoyed life, long summer days riding his motor cycle, working on cars, and spending time with his family. He loved to karaoke and music was his passion.

Jim is survived by the love of his life his companion, Sandra Kagle, of Galva, Kansas; his daughters, Deanna Gatewood, of Paragould, Arkansas, Joanna Goodrich and her husband Billy Don, of McPherson, Kansas, and Christina Goodrich and her husband Brian Joe, of Piggott, Arkansas; his mother, Joan Gatewood, of Emporia, Kansas; his siblings, William Kepner and his wife Vicki, of Chetopa, Kansas, Cathy Ann Gatewood, of Oswego, Kansas, and Michael Joe Gatewood and his wife Terri, of Emporia, Kansas; his 15 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter with 1 on the way!; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his dad; a brother, Donald Baker; a sister, Earlene Kepner; 3 grandchildren, Timothy Smart, and two baby Goodrich’s.

Graveside service will be held at Empire Cemetery, rural Galva, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7th, 2015 with Pastor Sharlan Graber officiating.

Funeral services for Rosalee Gantenbein, age 89, of Salina, formerly of Carlton will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral home in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Mrs. Gantenbein passed away Thursday, December 03, 2015 at Windsor Estates in Salina.
She was born April 26, 1926 in Lyons, Kansas the daughter of Ira and Jennie (Beers) VanBrocklin. Rosalee graduated from North High School in Wichita and attended Wichita State University.
She was a member of the Carlton Baptist Church. Rosalee enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles and word search puzzles.
On March 27, 1947 she married Vincent Gantenbein in Wichita. Together they farmed and Rosalee’s greatest joy was being a homemaker and mother.
Rosalee is survived by her daughter Madelyn and her husband Michael Sullivan of Hugoton, Kansas; sons Jerry Gantenbein of rural Abilene, Randy Gantenbein of Bellevue, Washington; two grandsons Eli and Levi Gantenbein. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Vincent who passed away March 25, 2008, her brother Nelson VanBrocklin, sisters Florence Curtright, Emma Swenson, and Violet Harber.
Rosalee’s final resting place will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery south of Abilene. Friends may sign the register book from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Sunday and until service time Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Rosalee and Vincent’s name to McCall Manor in Salina and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.

Crescentia Ann Gasper was born on February 16, 1925, the oldest of 10 children, to Eugene and Theresa Becker Steichen in Tipton, Kansas. She died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 17 days. Chris, as she was known, grew up and attended St. Boniface Grade School, graduated from Tipton High School, before attending Marymount College. She later worked at Hake Hardware in Tipton, and for several years in Topeka before her marriage. She married Leo J. Gasper on September 8, 1947 in St. Boniface Church in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Mary Ann and her husband James. Six children were born to this union – Willa, John, Thomas, Steven, Janelle, and Roland. They made their home on a farm 2 ½ miles south of Tipton. Besides farming and livestock, they had a large orchard for many years. Both Leo and Crescentia were active members of the parish and school organizations and councils. They continued on the farm until Leo’s death in April, 1999. And after 55 years on the farm, she moved in to Tipton. In addition to her husband Leo, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Brummer and Loretta Gaunt; and two brothers, Eugene and Raymond. She is survived by her children, Willa Kay of Beloit, John of Osborne, Thomas and wife Teresa of Tipton, Steven and wife Kathy of Salina, Janelle of Beloit, and Roland and wife Terri of Salina; four sisters, Mary Ann Thummel of Tipton, Helena Gasper of Tipton, Caroline Ellenz and husband Eugene of Tipton, and Eileen Steichen of Oroville, Washington; one brother, Charles and his wife Arlene Steichen of Placentia, California; 12 grandchildren, Ben and Jeff Gasper, and Stefanie Adam, Justin Fisher, Rachel Patterson and Andrew Gasper, Branson and Bayli Gasper, Austin and Emily Riddle, Nick Gasper, and Andrea Holt; 10 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral mass will be at 10 AM Monday, December 7 at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton. Visitation will be from 5 PM until a parish rosary service begins at 7 Sunday, December 6 at the Church. Memorials may be given to St. Boniface Catholic Church or Tipton Catholic High School.
