Katherine Gertrude (Schroeder) Ritter, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Sunday, December 6, 2015. She was born to Casper and Anna (Moritz) Schroeder on May 2, 1925 and had nine siblings.
Kathy was born in Tipton, Kansas, where she spent her childhood years and then moved to Salina where she met and married Charles (Charlie) Ritter on June 19, 1948. She worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Fox and Dr. Sibilla, who practiced in podiatry, as well as a bookkeeper for Ritter Tile Shop.
Kathy was an avid cook and took pride in sharing her culinary skills. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and showering loved ones with sweets baked just for them, with the lucky recipient’s resistance often futile. Kathy was loved dearly by those who knew her and will be remembered as a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother – she will be missed greatly by all of us.
Kathy was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and her faith was an important aspect of her life. She cherished her rosary and we find comfort in knowing she prayed it daily until her body and mind would no longer comply.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charlie; her children, Dr. Charles A. Ritter (Cheryl), Mike Ritter (Chris), Lynne Higgins (Jim) and Laura Reid (Randy); grandchildren, Chuck Ritter, Ross Ritter (Loreley), Rex Ritter (Corey), Jessica Flores (Ed), Michael Ritter (Colby), John Handlin, T.J. Anderson (Kalen) and Tyler Anderson; great-grandchildren, Henry Ritter, Sofie Flores, Seth Flores, Simon Flores, Baylor Ritter, Libby Ritter and Thomas Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 11th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cathedral, Salina. Burial will be in the Mr. Calvary Cemetery, Salina. Friends may call at the Ryan Mortuary from noon until 8:00 pm Thursday where vigil and rosary services will be held at 7:00 pm that evening. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Church Parish.

Paul Shepard Crumpton, 85, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015. He was born in Little Rock, Ark., to Wendell and Rebecca (Shepard) Crumpton.
In 1950 Paul joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Vietnam. In 1970 he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant and joined the reserves, working for the FAA as an electronics technician. In 1995 he retired from the FAA and worked for five years at Wichita State University. Outside of work Paul loved Kansas State University football and had season tickets for over 20 years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Patricia Crumpton, of Salina; sons, Doug Crumpton and Steve Crumpton, both of Salina; stepsons, Eric Clayton, of Salina, and Tom Clayton, of Ellensburg, Wash.; daughters, Rebecca Cheema, of Las Vegas, and Trisha Crumpton, of Salina; sister, Sheila Crumpton-Barron, of Indianapolis; and 15 grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the Sunset Park War Memorial, Salina. The family encourages all Kansas State University fans to wear school colors to honor Paul and his love for the Wildcats.

Lyle E. Glahn
73, passed away Saturday, December 5th, in Salina. He was born January 21, 1942 in Salina,
the son of August E. Jr. and Gladys (Smith) Glahn. Growing up in the Carlton Community, Lyle attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1960. He lived and farmed with his father in the Carlton Community all his life before moving to Abilene in 2013. Lyle enjoyed his family and friends, bowling and computers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws, Dale Kauffman and Ab Meyer. Lyle was a member and served on the board of the Carlton Presbyterian Church.

Peggy Jean Loveland, 77, a longtime Concordia resident, entered into rest on December 5, 2015 at the Salina Regional Health Center. She was born August 5, 1938 in Miltonvale, Kansas to Harvey Lee and Kate Ellen (Ennis) Loveland.
She was a 1956 graduate of Miltonvale High School. Peggy received her Associate’s degree from Miltonvale Wesleyan College in 1958, and then completed her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Kansas State University in 1966. Peggy began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, then taught in Miltonvale, but spent most of her 42-year career in the Concordia Schools.
Peggy was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Chapter Alpha Sigma; P.E.O. Chapter AO, Concordia; and Big Brothers and Sisters where she served as a Big Sister. She also served on the Frank Carlson Library Board of Trustees.
She was a loving and devoted sister and aunt. It has been said that she made the best homemade bulgur wheat bread in the state of Kansas.
She is survived by her brother Max Loveland and wife Janiece of Garland, Tx.; eight nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, G. Charles Loveland.
Cremation has taken place and visitation will be held Monday, December 14, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Tessa Zehring officiating.
Internment will follow in the Miltonvale City Cemetery.

Sister Margaret Ann Buser died December 7, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, KS. She was 98 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 79 years. She was born in Halstead, KS, on December 31, 1916, to Daniel and Ida Winterscheidt Buser, the sixth of eight children, and was baptized Edith Marguerite. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS on September 8, 1935. On March 19, 1936, Edith received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Margaret Ann. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1937, and final vows on August 15, 1940.Council Grove – John Jacob Parks, 84 of Council Grove, passed away December 4, 2015. He was born south of Alta Vista, KS on 20 October 1931, the first son of John “Cotton” and Nellie (Berry) Parks.
In 1937, they moved to Wilsey, KS, where John started school. In 1942, the family moved to Marion KS, where John attended grades 5 through 9. They moved back to Wilsey, where John graduated in 1949, and attended college in Emporia for one semester. John worked mostly in the oilfields on a drilling rig, until he entered the United States Air Force in 1951. He retired in 1971, after 20 years and 2 weeks of service. During his Air Force career, he spent 8 years overseas in Korea, England, Germany and Thailand. While in Germany, he served as a Technical Adviser to the British Royal Air Force. While there, he was chosen to be presented to Prince Phillip of Britain, when the Prince was on an inspection tour of British Air Bases.
In 1955, he married Alice N. Hudson at Wilsey. To this union, three children were born, Douglas, Gwendolyn and Marilyn. The family was with him in England, Germany and stateside. After retiring from the Air Force, they moved to Council Grove in 1972. John worked as refrigeration and appliance repair technicians, in his own and several other businesses, before working in maintenance at the Morris County Courthouse. During this time, he started, organized and directed the Morris County Emergency Medical Services. In addition, he was involved in training many EMTs. He also worked in maintenance at the Country Club Home before retiring.
After the death of Alice, John married Neva Sailing of Council Grove in 2001. After retiring, he became involved in the Christian Motorcycle Association, making many road trips on his Gold Wing for the organization’s rallies and events. John and Neva honeymooned through the Western States on the motorcycle. At the age of 80, John sold his motorcycle, but when he would hear a motorcycle drive by, his ears always pricked up. John was also actively involved in the Church of Christ Christian in Council Grove and the Wilsey Christian Church, serving in many ways for both.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Cotton and Nellie, two brothers, Allan (1942) and Dallas (2011), his wife Alice (2001) and daughter Gwen (2014). He is survived by his wife Neva, son Doug, daughter Marilyn, daughter-in-law Judy, son-in-law Earl, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A visitation for family and friends will be held 6:00 to 8:00pm, Thursday, December 10th, at Zeiner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30am, Friday, December 11th, at Wilsey Christian Church. Interment will follow at Wilsey Cemetery. HERINGTON – Oclea Nadine Merilatt Mosier, daughter of the late Edith Belton and Oakley Merilatt, died on November 20, 2015 in Redding, California. She was ninety years old.
Nadine was born on June 5, 1925 in the small Swedish farming community of Burdick, Kansas. Following the untimely death of her father, six months before her birth, she and her mother lived on the farm of her maternal grandparents in Burdick until she was twelve years old. During these early years, Nadine attended the one room school house of Burdick. She and her family were active members of Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick.
Nadine and her mother moved to Durham, Kansas in 1937 following her mother’s marriage to Nadine’s stepfather, the late Frances Belton. Nadine graduated from Durham High School in 1943 as class Valedictorian. Nadine engaged in extra-curricular activities including school newspaper paper editor, acting in leading roles in school musicals, and singing in girl’s trio.
In 1947, Nadine earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education and was elected to membership in Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. After her second year in college, she received an emergency teaching certificate due to the teacher shortage during WWII. She taught for two years in the Clark District (KS) country school. When Nadine returned to college following the war she became active in the sorority Pi Kappa Sigma who nominated her as homecoming queen candidate her senior year. From 1947 to 1949, she taught English, home economics, and physical education at Burrton High School, Burrton, KS.
In 1949, Nadine married H. David Mosier, Jr. in Baltimore, Maryland, where David attended medical school. The family eventually settled in Los Angeles, CA. Nadine devoted the next 25 years to homemaking and raising their four children. In 1976, she pursued a successful career in real estate in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County. She maintained her real estate license until 2013. For nearly 60 years she was an active member of Sherman Oaks Lutheran Church, particularly in the music ministry.
Nadine is survived by her children, Carolyn Pohlmeyer of Redding, CA, William Mosier (Maria) of Fullerton, CA, Daniel Mosier (Michele) of Redding, CA, and Christine Mosier-Mahoney (John) of Redding, CA; ten grandchildren, John (Katie), Matthew (Lizette), and Stephen (Susan) Pohlmeyer; Katherine and Michael Mosier and Kristen (Andrew) Kenz; Benjamin and Kaitlyn Mosier; Shauna and Danielle Mahoney; three great-grandchildren, Claire, Emma, and Lauren Pohlmeyer; cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.
Services and burial will be held on December 19, 10:30 am, at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, Kansas, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.
