Salina Police are still looking for a gold 1998 Ford Explorer that failed to stop for a traffic violation early Thursday morning, which led to a chase that reached speeds of 80 mph.
Captain Mike Sweeney said an officer tried to stop the Explorer just after 4 a.m. for a tag violation in the 500 block of W. North.
The driver, who was the only occupant, failed to stop, continued eastbound to 9th and when the officer turned on his lights and sirens, sped up going south on 9th Street.
The pursuit ended at 9th and Crawford after officers determined it was unsafe to continue to follow the suspect.
